Taekwondo

Taekwondo was founded in Korea, it is considered to be a defense, combative, and sport martial art.  Although this martial art is a native art of Korea, it has been influenced by the martial arts of China, Japan and traditional Korean fighting arts. Taekwondo is also the national sport in South Korea.  There are multiple forms of Taekwondo some are more popular then others.

A loose translation of Taekwondo means (the way of the foot and the fist) the art incorporates many moves involving foot and fist, sparring is practiced, but grappling is only practiced by individuals with high belt levels.

Taekwondo comes in two major styles including Kukkiwon, which incorporates the sparring system called Gyeorugi.  This system has become one of the games in the summer Olympics since 2000 and is rules by the World Taekwondo Federation

Martial Arts are only what you as the student make of them, you will not be a Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee over night, it takes humility and dedication to be the best!
