SYSTEMA
Systema was created
and developed in the 10th century by Cossack worriers, that were not
able to raise money for a formal army.
In 1917 when the Communists sized power in Russia they
outlawed the practice of the fighting Arts except for elite units within the
KGB and Spetsnaz “Russian Special
Forces”
It was when the Soviet Union fell in 1991 that the Systema
Arts were brought to the west, and were introduced to civilians.
Systema has evolved from its early days into what it is
today and has multiple integrations of hand-to-hand techniques and weapons
usage do to its militarization
during the Soviet years.
Systema is unlike any common Asian martial art, it does not
utilize a specific fighting stance, the theory of technique of Systema is that
you learn and adapt to fight from all positions as there are no fixed patterns
of use in technique, it is taught randomly as would happen in a combat
situation. There multiple takes and
Systema taught today similar to that of Kung Fu, not any relation to in form
just similar in the fact there is multiple disciplines taught in the same
System.
Systema Training is as follow, aspects of
self-defense and hand-to-hand combat, including working in confined spaces,
defense against and use of weapons, multiple attackers, crowd work, blindfold
training, fighting on the ground, improvised weapons, and many other practical
applications for personal safety, optimum health, and superb fitness. Systema
classes are diverse, challenging, and fun. Training is equally suitable for
civilian men and women.
This
is great training, building self-esteem and confidence.
